Design a school teacher
You will need: A large piece of paper and coloured pencils/felt pens/crayons Duration: 45 minutes
What qualities should a good teacher have? How do you like to be treated and spoken to? How do you learn best? What should a teacher NOT be like?
Use a large piece of paper to design your own ideal teacher. Add labels for all the attributes he or she would have (e.g. big ears to listen well, friendly smile to make you feel reassured, clever brain to know lots of information etc). If you are in a group, explain to everyone else why your 'ideal teacher' is an excellent example of how a teacher should be.
If you have time you could also design a model pupil. Remember that as well as having a right to education, we also have a responsibility to be good students. Think of all the attributes good students should have, and draw a picture showing them.
Extra option (need at least two people):
Sit in a circle and take turns around the group saying the phrase "a good teacher should be..." and add a word or phrase beginning with each letter of the alphabet. Your ideas can be amusing, but try to think of positive words e.g. A good teacher should be ... approachable, bubbly, caring, dedicated, energetic...
