Activity day
Aim:
To organise a special day for needy children.
You will need:
Any equipment you need for activities.
Duration:
A day (plus preparation time)
Childhood is a special time, but not everyone gets the chance to play and have fun. Organise and run a special activity day for children who do not often get the chance to play, such as disabled children or children from a disadvantaged area. You could contact a local school or group to ask if their children would like to attend.
You will need to arrange a venue for your activities, and plan a programme for the day. Ask different people to volunteer to run different activities. You will need to consider the needs of the children when you plan the various activities. Make sure you have a variety of noisy and quieter activities.
Here are some suggestions:
- Water games
- Sand pit to play in
- Face painting
- Hair braiding
- Craft activities
- Watching a funny play / puppet show
- Competitions
- Running-around games
- Making music
You could invite the local newspaper or radio station to make a feature about your activity day.
