Co-operative drama
Aim:
To think about how to solve problems through co-operation.
You will need:
A group of people, props (optional).
Duration:
30 minutes
Divide into groups to act out the following scenarios. You are just given the beginning of each situation. You will need to work out a way to co-operate to solve the problems, then finish acting out the story. Younger children may need some guidance or prompts. Explain that when people co-operate together, the aim is that everyone benefits.
- A brother and sister are having a fight because they both want to use the bike. The boy wants to ride to his friend's house, and the girl wants to go to the shops to buy a drink.
- One farmer has a river running through his farm. His tractor has broken down and he cannot afford to mend it. The farmer next door is short of water, and his crops are dying. He has a tractor.
- An old lady is unable to clean the windows in her house because she is too frail to climb up her ladder. The man who lives next door needs a ladder to reach the apples to pick from his tree.
- A girl has been to fetch water in a bucket, and has a long walk back home. A man is driving along the road in his car. He feels very thirsty but cannot see anywhere to get a drink.
