Angry and annoyed

Aim: To consider times you felt angry, and how they could be solved.
You will need: A group of people.
Duration: 15 minutes

Sit in a big circle. Go around the group, and ask each person to say something that makes them angry or annoyed (it can be anything - but try not to be personal about other people). You might want to spend some time discussing these things. Do other people agree or disagree about the same things? How do people react when they are annoyed?

On the next turn, everyone in the circle should now say a solution that would stop them feeling angry or annoyed by their chosen thing. For example:

  • "It makes me annoyed when I miss my school bus in the morning."
    Solution - if I get up earlier I won't miss my bus.
  • "It makes me angry when my brother shouts at me."
    Solution - I should try not to annoy him by borrowing his bike without asking.

If individuals cannot think of a solution the rest of the group can make suggestions.

It is only normal that we sometimes feel a bit annoyed about things, but as this exercise shows we can try to make our lives happier and more peaceful by making small changes in the way we behave.
