 Conflict and peace

Circle Time

Aim: To encourage younger children to talk about conflict and peace.
You will need: A group of people.
Duration: 15 minutes

Introduce a discussion about conflict and peace with younger children. These are some suggested questions to ask:

  • Have you had an argument with anyone recently? How did it end?
  • Is it possible to avoid getting into arguments? What do you do instead?
  • Have you played a game pretending to be in a war? How is it different from the real thing?
  • Why do countries go to war?

Explain that there are many wars going on around the world, but they could be avoided if we tried to find more peaceful ways of solving our arguments. Living in a peaceful world means starting with ourselves, and making sure our own behaviour does not lead to arguments.
