Sharing your traditions
People around the world have different cultural traditions. There is a huge amount of variety in the festivals we celebrate, foods we eat on different occasions, the ways we mark births and deaths, clothes we wear, songs we sing and so on. There are also many similarities across different cultures.
An important part of overcoming prejudice is understanding other people from different backgrounds. By finding out more about other people's cultures we become less likely to view them as different or odd.
Why not share your cultural traditions with other young people around the world? For example tell us about a festival you recently celebrated, a wedding you have been to, or a traditional song you know. Explain the history and meaning of your traditions. Imagine that the audience reading has never seen a similar event.
You could interview your grandparents or other people from their generation, to find out more about your traditions. Write and tell us what you found out - Upload an audioclip or a photo, or send a piece of text.
