Challenge the teacher

Aim: To show that both students and teachers are always learning.
You will need: Quiz questions (research required), a group of students and teachers.
Duration: 1 hour

Do teachers know everything? No, they don't and most teachers would accept this fact. Create a quiz and offer your teachers the chance to play against students. Don't get too competitive, but the aim (even if the teachers win!) is to show that it's not only students who have things to learn. Sometimes students know more than teachers about some topics.

This activity could be done at the end of term, or as a special evening event with parents invited. You will need to get your teachers to agree to take part, so it would be best to find a teacher who is approachable and friendly, to ask first.

Why not make the quiz be about an important global issue, such as the Millennium Development Goals? You can use some information from this website to make up your questions. Think of a range of questions, some easy and some more difficult. You will need at least 30 questions.

The people making up the questions cannot take part. You will need to find another group of students willing to play against the teachers.

Arrange a date and venue for your event, and invite other people to come to watch. Use the opportunity to inform people about the Millennium Development Goals, and how everyone can help achieve them.
