 Education

People we learn from

IMAGE: DIagram showing who you learn from

Aim: to consider different people we learn from, (and different types of education)
You will need: Paper and pens or blackboard and chalk
Duration: 30 minutes

Start by drawing a big circle on a piece of paper. If you are working as a group you could draw one large diagram, or individual ones. Divide the circle into eight 'slices'. Each slice will represent a different person you learn from (e.g. mother, father, grandparents, brother/sister, other relatives, friends, neighbours/community members, school teacher, health visitor/nurse, religious leader).

Write the person around the edge of the slice, then inside it write something you have learnt from them. You could illustrate your diagram with pictures about what you learnt. If you have been working on individual diagrams in a group, come back together to share your work.

The idea is to appreciate that you have learnt things from lots of different people in your life. Although school is important, it is not the only place where we learn. We should appreciate the people who teach us things, and aim to use our knowledge to teach other people around us.
