Your ideal school
Design in your imagination your 'ideal school'. You can do this individually, with a friend or even in a small group. It would be good to do this activity after reading the Education pages [link to education theme pages] and trying out some of the other activities on education, just to be clear on what your thoughts and feelings are about schools.
Design
The layout and appearance of your school will depend your priorities. How big will the classrooms be? Will you have more sports facilities or music or science facilities? Will it be modern or traditional in appearance?
Rules
In addition to your design, try to put together ten key 'rules' or a 'code of conduct' - basically ways of behaving and doing things in school that will make it the kind of school you would like.
Programme
What will be taught in your ideal school? As well as regular classes of traditional subjects, you may want to include other activities that are not currently on offer at your own school. They might be other subjects, or completely new activities, clubs or groups. You may want, for example, a counselling service, a 'quiet space', or a cinema projector for educational films. Be creative.
Costs
Do not worry too much about costs - this is an 'ideal' school. But also do not try to include everything. Your school should show that you have certain priorities and should reflect your views on school.
You could draw and write up your plan - then take it to show your teachers and ask what they think.
