Pledge for the Planet
Aim:
To take individual responsibility for caring for the planet.
You will need:
Paper, pens, string, a tree.
Duration:
5 minutes per person (could be ongoing during other activities)
Ask people to make a 'pledge for the planet'. You could do this at an event where there will be lots of people, and ask people to stop at your tree throughout the day.
Cut out leaf shapes from paper, and thread a piece of string through one end of each leaf.
Ask people to write on a 'leaf' a way they are going to change their behaviour for the good of the planet. They can then attach these to a real tree (or you can make a big cut-out picture of a tree to tie the pledges on).
You could provide people with some suggestions of action they could promise to take, or ways they could alter their behaviour - or just let people use their own imagination.
