Starting with me
We are all involved in trade, by buying food and other goods that we need. Sometimes it is easy to forget the person who was responsible for growing the food we eat, or sewing our clothes we wear. Do you know where the goods you and your family buy come from? Look at the packaging or labels to find out the countries of origin. Remember that at the beginning of the journey of your food or clothing (and all sorts of other goods) a person was responsible for growing, sewing, making, packing and transporting those goods.
Are any of the products you buy fairly traded? (There will be a logo on the packaging to tell you). Fair trade means that the producers have been paid a fair price for their goods. Next time you are shopping try to look out for fairly traded goods such as coffee, tea, sugar and fruit.
See the trade campaign page to find out about action you can take to demand that trade rules are made more fair.
