Letter hunt

Aim: To have fun and get familiar with the names of three major diseases.
You will need: 20 pieces of card/paper with letters written on, 'disease' cards for each group, pens.
Duration: 20-30 minutes

The leader should prepare the letter cards and disease cards beforehand. Write the following letters onto cards/pieces of paper:

A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P R S T U

On each 'disease card' for a group write in capital letters:
MALARIA
AIDS
TUBERCULOSIS

This game should be played in large outdoor space, or a building with lots of places to hide things. The leader should hide all of the letters before the game begins. Each team will be given a card with the 3 major diseases written on it. They need to find all of the letters, and cross them off as they find each one. If a letter is repeated in the words, they can cross it off every time it appears. Some of the letters will be useless. They can try to be secretive so other teams do not see where letters are hidden.

As each team completes the task, you can then as them to see how many other words they can make out of the words 'Malaria, Aids and Tuberculosis'. When everyone has returned see how many new words the group has made altogether.
