 Water and health

Starting with me

It is important that everyone does their bit to save water. Even though in many countries people are lucky enough to have running water, it is still a precious resource and one which we need to take care of.

If you have running water to your house, try doing one of the following actions this week to save water:

  • Check that you only put on full loads of washing
  • Have a quick shower instead of a bath
  • Put a brick in your toilet flush tank - this reduces the amount of water in each flush
  • Turn off your tap when you are brushing your teeth
  • Persuade your family to invest in a water butt to catch rainwater - use this for watering plants

See how easy it is. Although these actions will not make access to water any easier for the millions who do not have clean water, it will help you not to take it for granted.

Look here to find out what you can do to help campaign for clean water access for everyone in the world.
