About Your Paper
Sam McGeever
We've spent weeks putting together the photos, stories and listings for your copy of the Global Voice, but as well as thinking about what goes into the paper, we've been thinking about the paper itself, and what we put onto it.
We're printing a thousand ccopies of an eight page newspaper every day for ten days — that's 800, 000 pages across Global Village — and we've tried to be as sustainable as possible.
The newspaper you're holding has been printed by the Kent Art Printers Ltd (KAP), a local company. The inks used have been derived from a sustainable vegetable oil base (rather than mineral oil), and the sheet has been printed using “alcohol-free” dampening to reduce emissions of volatile oganic compounds, no-process platemaking (no water, chemistry or hazardous waste) and renewable power.
