Green power saves the day in Green Turtle
When the mains power failed in Green Turtle town early last night it looked like the evening's news would have to be cancelled for two towns: Green Turtle because of the power failure and Blue Whale because Green Turtle supplies the TV signal to Blue Whale.
The Eco Trailer was towed out of village 34 to the Green Turtle Town Marquee, and the power restored, the news was broadcast to a lively audience and disaster averted. GV-TV weather reporter Sophie was distraught at the thought of two towns not being able to watch her. After the successful broadcast she was seen hugging and kissing the trailer.
There have been power problems around the festival with failures at Tillyards and Mest-Up. “I am having lots of trouble with these generators” said Owen Hastings from Stage Tech “I wish that they were all as reliable as the solar systems around camp”.
Renewable energy supplies Blue Whale Town and Village 28 (Wales). The Edinburgh Powerpod provides power and heat to Village 28, and the Eco Trailer provides power for Village 34. Other smaller systems are in many villages.
