Pass for Peace continues apace

Two days into the 'Pass For Peace' tournament and the results have been coming thick and fast.
The Yellow Parrot Group saw Village 15 play Village 18, a match played over two days, that V18 eventually won thanks to a golden goal by Holly. The 'Pass For Peace' team would like to mention Laurence from V15 for making us feel very welcome at the match.
This result means that V18 will now play V19 in their second-round match for a place in the Yellow Parrot Town final. Village 17 are also pushing hard for qualification from the Yellow Parrot Group, eventually overcoming Village 20, 3 - 0. Opening the scoring for V17 was young Bradley Jones who kept his cool to convert an early penalty via the goalkeeper and the left-hand post. V20 had several fierce shots on goal but were unable to beat Lee Frankland between the V17 sticks.
There was an energetic game in the Golden Monkey Group, the group that for technical reasons includes Village 5 who actually reside within the borders of the Red Wolf Town. In fact it was the 'invading' village that emerged from this contest on top, eventually winning the match 7 - 3. V5's Finnish star, Miska, managed to make an invaluable contribution to his team's effort by scoring a goal with his first touch of the ball! Charlie's performance for V11 also deserves a mention as he managed to find the net despite being the youngest player on his team. The spirit of the tournment was again on show here, with the younger players' goals all counting double.
Participation is extremely important to the 'Pass For Peace' tournament, so the last ten minutes of the Village 37 versus Village 40 match were a joy to behold: everyone who wanted to play on either side joined in the fun resulting in 20-a-side madness! Up to this point V37 had built a three-goal lead and even though V40 scrambled the ball across the line in the dying moments of the game V37 hung on for a 3 - 1 win.
If your village has lost a match, unfortunately it does mean that your village cannot qualify for the finals of the 'Pass For Peace' tournament unless 'Pass For Peace' representatives directly inform your village otherwise. It is understood that there has been some confusion regarding this issue and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. There is nothing to stop your village arranging future matches with other villages, and remember that the 'Pass For Peace' fair play award can be won by any team regardless of how far they progress through the tournament. Keep reading The Global Voice for more information on the tournament, and the organising team will be returning to villages to collect results and give you details on your future matches.
