Wind continues to do damage at GV06
Christopher Parsons and Sam Blackburn, V8
Is it me or has everything been blown down?
Yesterday there were strong winds blowing through the campsite at speeds of up to 6 Beaufort. The Village 4 gate was blown down and a lot of effort had been put into making it and the whole village was proud of it. It took two days to make and one day to put up by elfins, pioneers and even venturers, so everyone's very sad.
Brendan Lee said that when he went to the toilet the entrance was fine but when he came back he found it had been "thrown to the floor by a rogue gust of wind, sending people of all ages scattering."
This village, from Hornsey District, North London, and Germany, saved four German tents from certain peril as the delegation had gone to London. Another man, Simon Cadman, said he felt like crying as it was so humiliating. He cursed the wind for being so nasty, but said "Red Wolf gateway will rise again, we will not let the wind beat us!"
Over thirty other tents in Global Village also blew down including Sophie and Jacob's tent in Village 8.
This must have been a horrible day for everyone whose tent blew down as it was raining as well so their possessions would have got soaking wet.
Hopefully the wind will clear up for the rest of the week as we don't want any more tent and gateway casualties.
