  • Democracy is about social equality and who is running the world. There are many powerful organisations and entities who have influence on the world including transnational corporations, the WTO, the UN, the G8, the EU, the USA, the World Bank and IMF.
  • Participation is about people taking part in a democratic society. There are many ways people can organise themselves such as trade unions, lobby groups, associations and activist networks.
  • Young people can make a valuable contribution to society and towards meeting the Millennium Development Goals. Although their role is not always recognised, it is essential in bringing about change.
