Schools
From the time we are born we begin learning things about our immediate environment, from our parents and family. As we grow older there are more and more things we need to learn to be able to take part in society. Schools were developed as places where we could go to learn, to be taught by people who were specially trained to be able to teach young people.
Children have the right not just to survive, but also to develop. Schools can be an important part of development, teaching new skills and knowledge, as well as giving young people a chance to develop their own personal talents, attitudes and relationships with other people. Education also gives you choices - and the confidence to make the most of those choices.
